Heroes and Horsepower is a free, interactive, community event that lets children get up close to more than 20 vehicles used by community heroes. Children can climb aboard fire trucks, tour medical and police helicopters, explore an ambulance, see U.S. Coast Guard boats and more.  Other participating vehicles include U.S. Army Humvees, police SWAT vehicles and ATVs, Urban Rescue trucks, public works vehicles, mini race cars and more.*

Firefighters, police officers and other heroes will be on hand to meet families, answer questions about their machinery and share information about how they help our community.  Pet lovers will also have the chance to meet a K-9 unit as well as rescued dogs from Greyhound Pets of America-Greater Orlando.  In addition, the event features raffles, including a chance to have lunch with a firefighter and tour the fire station, a “meet and greet” and photo opportunity with an animated astronaut character from Kennedy Space Center Visitor’s Complex, food for purchase, bounce houses, interactive demonstrations and more.

Heroes and Horsepower kicks off National Adoption Month, which is in November each year. The event, hosted by CBC of Seminole, is intended to let people know that they too can be heroes to children by fostering, adopting, or mentoring.  Community Based Care of Seminole (CBC), is the non-profit agency that develops community-based services and support for children and families in Seminole County including fostering, adopting and mentoring.
