May is National Foster Care Awareness Month!

Each May, National Foster Care Month provides an opportunity to shine a light on the experiences of the more than 380,000 children and youth under 18 in the foster care system across the country. The campaign raises awareness about the urgent needs of these young people and encourages citizens from every walk of life to get involved – as foster or adoptive parents, volunteers, mentors or in other ways.

We call on everyone to join us in helping to change a lifetime of a child or youth in foster care. No matter who you are or how much time you have to give, you can help create permanent, lifelong connections for these children and youth!

Welcome to Community Based Care of Central Florida

CBC of Central Florida is a non-profit agency charged with developing community-based services and supports for children and families served by the child welfare system in Central Florida. A core value is the belief that all children have the inalienable right to grow up safe, healthy and fulfilled in families that love and nurture them.

We have been committed to serving the children and families of Central Florida who have been victims of, or at risk of, abuse, neglect or abandonment since 2004. Community Based Care is Florida's child welfare initiative that transfers public child welfare services to the private sector. In response to this initiative, a group of local providers came together to develop a community-based "lead agency" that combines compassion and innovation with flexibility. The result is CBC of Central Florida.

Our ongoing goal includes providing the necessary services to the more than 3,000 children we serve by strengthening the relationships between our families, foster parents, case management team and network of local service providers who deliver a multitude of direct services to children.

Our Mission

It is the mission of Community Based Care of Central Florida that all families in Central Florida are able to safely care for their children by engaging, protecting and inspiring every child, every day. We accomplish this mission by developing and managing a comprehensive, coordinated, community-based system of care for abused, neglected and abandoned children and their families.
